The task: Read, summarize, and analyze a recent (Past 2 years) news article of your choosing using the ideas and concepts we talked about in the first few chapters of our textbook. You can choose for any news article so long as you can relate it to the concepts we have been talking about: scarcity, “people are rational, respond to incentives, and act on the margin,” Supply and Demand, Comparative Advantage and Trade, equity and efficiency, and any other topics from chapter 1,2,3, and 4 such as Centrally planned economy
• Market economy
• Mixed economy
• Productive efficiency
• Allocative efficiency
• Trade-offs, Comparative Advantage, and the Market System
• Where Prices Come From: The Interaction of Demand and Supply
• Economic Efficiency, Government Price Setting, and Taxes
• . Make sure you pick an article that you understand and feel comfortable analyzing and relating it to the topics we have learned. Simply picking an article about the stock market and relating it to economics is NOT good enough. You must relate it directly to what we have been learning.
Make sure you link to the article and/or cut and paste the article for me to read in addition to your essay.
What I am looking to see:
• A well thought-out essay that demonstrates an understanding of the concepts covered in the first few chapters as well as an understanding of the article itself.
• A readable essay- free of grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
• A properly formatted essay- 12 point font, Times New Roman, Standard Margins, 2 pages min, sources properly cited.
