Some symptoms of BPD are, frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment,a pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships,identity disturbance,impulsiveness,
recurrent suicidal behavior,emotional instability,
and inappropriate/intense anger.
Causes of BPD
One cause is Genetics. Some studies of twins and families suggest that personality disorders may be inherited or strongly associated with other mental disorders among family members.Another cause is, Environmental factors. Many people with borderline personality disorder have a history of childhood abuse, neglect and separation from caregivers or loved ones.

Lastly, Brain abnormalities. Some research has shown changes in certain areas of the brain involved in emotion regulation, impulsiveness and aggression. In addition, certain brain chemicals that help regulate mood, such as serotonin, may not function properly.

Treatment Options
Psychotherapy is the treatment of choice in helping people overcome this problem. While medications can usually help some symptoms of the disorder, they cannot help the patient learn new coping skills, emotion regulation, or any of the other important changes in a person’s life.
