The Decriminalization Approach Liberal feminists theorize prostitution as a ‘victimless crime’ (McElroy 2010).

This is based on their understanding that sexual transaction is between two consenting adults acting out of their own free will, and therefore they are not committing a crime.

They contend that the criminalization of prostitution violates the fundamental right of self- sovereignty by way of denying the individuals of their right to exercise control over their own bodies (McElroy 2010).

From the liberal point of view every woman has her own right and power to engage in a sexual transaction or not.

The focus of the liberal feminists is not soo much on the gender inequality or the patriarchy that women are faced with but rather, ensuring self- fulfillment and autonomy of women to make and exercise their own rights.
