United States concentrates more on International terrorism rather then what is going on right on our soil. a) We have a great threat from a group known as “homegrown domestic terrorism”. 2. According to Honorable Nicholas J. Rasmussen, one of our “ most likely and immediate threats to the Homeland will come from Homegrown Violent Extremists (HVEs)”. a) Individuals with affiliation to terrorist groups overseas like ISILS. b) Media outburst by ISILS has created opportunities for these terrorist groups to reach recruits and/or influence people that live on our homeland. c) The online environment continues to help “ reinforce a violent extremist identity, supplies grievances, and provides HVEs the means to connect with terrorist groups overseas”. 3. American’s fear that terrorist will attack inside the U.S again and this time by Biological or chemical weapons; not just the guns like what was used in Paris (Washington Examiner). a) 74% of American’s believed that terrorist affiliated with ISIS if not stopped soon, will plan an attack on the U.S like the attack that was done on Paris. 4. “From 1980-1989, a total of 170 people were indicted for domestic terrorism or terrorist-related activities in the U.S” (Terrorism In America). a) “Terrorist activities are perpetrated by right-wing groups rather than left-wing groups.” b) 103 of the 170 people that were indicated for terrorism in the U.S were from right-wing groups. c) “Right-wing terrorists groups are bound together thru shared religious ideology . 5. Not all terrorist attacks in the U.S are by Muslims; only 2.5% of attacks from 1970 to 2012 were actually carried out by Muslims. We need to not only concentrate all our attention on just Muslim groups. a) Study done from 1970-2011 showed that 32% of groups where motivated by enthonantional/separates agenda b) 28% motivated by single issues such as animal rights or opposition to war c) 7% were motivated by religious beliefs
