1. BP Power is a medium-sized public corporation specialising in installing solar powered street light in different areas. Due to an increase in the number of muggings as a result of poor lighting, it has been observed that the efforts of this company have significantly improved safety and security concerns of the people in the local community. The company’s overall performance is good but some changes need to be made to help the company to improve in this area. This can only be done through the efforts of other stakeholders involved in the project. Basically, astakeholder is an individual person or group of people that is directly or indirectly affected by the activities of a certain project or these people may have a considerable stake or interest in the particular project (Schulzt, 2003). In this case, there are different types of categories who have interest in the BP Power project. The table below shows the stakeholder list and their roles.In this case, BP power management and employees are the primary stakeholders since they are directly involved in carrying out the work. The members of the community are the secondary stakeholders since they are impacted by the project though some of them are not directly involved.

2. It is recommended that stakeholder involvement in the project should be given priority in a bid to positively influence the destiny of the business being undertaken in this scenario. Basically, this particular project is mainly concerned with creating a sense of asset management among the intended beneficiaries so that they can also have a positive feeling towards development projects that are meant to uplift their welfare in their respective communities. Thus, the success of this project can be determined by the involvement of the members of the local communities. It is therefore recommended that the coordinators of this project should actively involve the community members in different aspects of the project such as decision making since they are the ones who will be directly impacted by the project.

The community members can provide invaluable knowledge about their area to the project coordinators which also helps to improve the way a project is carried out. It is also recommended that teamwork among the employees of the company should be promoted since this helps in creating and sharing of knowledge that is vital in carrying out this work. It is also recommended that the management should adopt a democratic, participatory leadership style that is open to all members involved in the project. Mutual understanding is likely to be achieved if this style of leadership is used in carrying out a project of this magnitude.
3. Being the CEO responsible for coordinating the project, I would encourage stakeholders to form coalition teams responsible for carrying out different tasks in the project. For instance, I would encourage the employees to work as teams and these teams would be responsible for executing different tasks in the project. The success of a given project mainly depends with teamwork among the people responsible for carrying out the work. As a leader, I would facilitate team formation and give the much needed support to all the stakeholders so that they can share the same vision of the project. I would also promote learning among the team members so that they can generate vital knowledge about different aspects of the project.

I would also make an effort to form a coalition of influential community members who can positively influence other people in their respective areas to take a positive approach towards the project since it would be designed to benefit them. If the community members are cooperative towards the project, they are likely to contribute to its success. It may also be important for different teams to train other community members so that they can actively participate in the envisaged project. Targeting influential people in the society is very important since these people are likely to influence their peers to have the same perception towards the project that is designed to benefit them. Above all, the management should be accommodative to diverse views so as to be in a position to form a strong coalition that can lead to the success of the project. All stakeholders should have common understanding towards the project in order for it to be a success.

4. The main challenge anticipated in encouraging the stakeholders to form a coalition to help towards the achievement of the set goals is related to resistance to change by different stakeholders. People are scared of adopting change as a result of various reasons. In most cases, people who lack knowledge and understanding of the envisaged project are likely to resist it. This in turn can negatively hamper the efforts to implement a project in such a place that is comprised of people who are scared of change. Some people may just resist change for the sake of resisting it though it would be designed to benefit them through improving their welfare.

In order to overcome these challenges, I would make sure that there are open channels of communication that are designed to enlighten all the stakeholders about the benefits of the project. Knowledge conquers fear hence I will use this strategy to appeal to the interests of the people so that they can have a positive approach towards the project being implemented. I will also attempt to create structures within the company that are meant to ensure that diverse views of the stakeholders are incorporated in the functioning of the company. In this case, an open door policy would be more ideal for this scenario.
