Research Project Proposal

Each student will design a research project. This project should be designed and written, as if you or someone else was going to implement the research project. Each proposal should be APA formatted; 8-10 pages long. You must adhere to APA (6th ed.) guidelines. The following are the components of the project.
• Title of the Research Project
• Abstract –
o The Abstract should state the focus of the research project, brief description of sample and the anticipated results.
• Introduction and Review of the Literature –
o The Introduction component of a research paper introduces the reader to your research issue. The purpose of the introduction is to provide a clear and concise overview of your research study including: the research issue/problem in counseling, a rationale for examining this research issue, and the purpose of your study. The introduction should be 2-3 pages in length.
o The Review of the Literature will allow you to integrate the knowledge developed from your journal articles to more fully understand your research topic. The literature review should conclude with a restatement of your purpose and your research question(2) [Hypothesis]. The literature review will relate your research question to current theoretical, clinical and scientific research int he field. The literature review should be 2-3 pages. [Relevant to the focus of your research – 10-14 articles minimum. Articles should be from peer-reviewed journals].
• Methods Section –
o In this section, you will describe the research methods you will use to address your research question. You will apply course material and additional readings as necessary. This section should allow other researchers to replicate your study. Discuss the reliability and validity of the research methods proposed. The methods section should be between 2 and 3 pages (not including title and reference pages).

• Summary/Anticipated Results –
o This section will restate the research issue/problem in counseling, a rationale for examining this research issue, and the purpose of your study and any final thoughts. This section should be 1-2 pages in length.
