Why do firms become multinational enterprises? Using examples, explain what motivates organisations to engage in international business and how they internationalise” This is an academic essay, so should be written in a formal academic style.

Do not simply describe what businesses did to internationalise, with a brief history of their operations. You should carefully explain their motivations and activities using academic theories and frameworks to support your argument and analysis.

These frameworks and theories will be from the lectures, workshops and extra reading from books and journal papers. Extra credit will be given for essays that provide a critical account of the internationalisation process and if it was successful.

The assignment should be submitted through Turnitin on the Course’s Moodle area. Coursework should be submitted no later than 12.00 (noon) on the deadline date. Requests for extensions can only be gained from Dr Wainwright and must be submitted 48 hours before the deadline, accompanied with evidence.

There are multiple ways to structure a single essay, so don’t feel that you have to follow every example. For instance, the video about essay plans provides useful insight into the process of essay planning, but the structure would not be appropriate for this essay.
