Among the problems associated with the implementation of ERP systems in an organization is the selection problem. For instance, if a particular company has made the decision of launching a managerial information system, the very first dilemma that the managers of the particular company will face is what type or kind, size and even the scope of the software system that they should implement(Davies, 2017). This is a very major problem because the different managers will have their own views which are different or contrary to those of others. The good ones may not be known, hence subjecting the managers in a dilemma. They will not be in a position of choosing or selecting the most suitable one in this situation.

There will be no single solution or answer on what the particular company or firm at hand will know the exact ERP system that it will need in its day to day business operations. This is mainly because there exist many factors that should be considered before the particular company decides on the ERP systems it should implement. The factors include the price of the ERP system, scope, size, as well as the functions the particular ERP should handle(Davies, 2017). There will exist a variety of ERP systems in the market with different specifications. The managers of the company or organization will also have different views. Hence, it will be very hard for a particular organization to choose the ERP software system which it should implement.

Evaluate the factors that contribute to that challenge.

The first factor that contributes to the above challenge is that every person has his or her own test and preference. Each and every of the company’s manager will have different test and preference of the ERP system that given company should implement in its day to day operations. Hence, a suitable one will not be easily realized. It is because every manager will have his or her point to support as to why he or she is supporting the particular ERP system that he or she advocates for.

The second factor is that not every top management player is familiar with the latest and advanced technologies. As much as the latest technologies always come with some advantages, they also come up with some disadvantages. This makes some people at the top management to even fail to learn or practice on the use of the latest and advanced technologies. Thus such managers will be in a position of resisting any implementation of ERP systems in their company or firm.

The third factor is the general feeling of resistance to change. There is always this factor whereby managers or top employees of a company or an organization are always resistance to change. They will need to be ready to change their way of doing things or operating. They will want to remain in their comfort zone and would not any change to be done in their company or organization. To them, they will prefer to remain with their usual manual way of operating or doing things.

What strategies do you recommend for mitigating this challenge?

The first strategy that is recommended is to have the managers of a company working together as a team. This way will help them to have almost the same taste and preference. Hence, they will share many things in common that touch about the daily operations of the company or the organization. In this way, it will be very easy for them to decide on the most suitable ERP that they should implement in their firm.

The second strategy is to educate both the top management and the employees or workers on the importance or significance of accepting change by embracing the latest and advanced technologies in their company. This is basically the implementation of the ERP system. They should be taught on the significance the system will play in the day to day operations of the company’s activities or operations. That will enable the management team as well as the employees in general to accept the implementation of ERP systems in their company or organization.
