Critical annotated bibliography for ‘Race’ Ethnicity and Development

A critical annotated bibliography on ONE of the following:

1. Colonialism, Racism and Development

2. Representing the ‘Other’ in Development and Aid

3. Gender/Race and Global Labour Markets

You need to demonstrate:

1. That you know how to identify important and relevant texts on a concept or issue.

2. That you can summarise these texts accurately and briefly.

3. That you understand how to read sources critically.

4. That you can evaluate/reflect on your own work.

FORMAT OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The annotated bibliography should be written up in the following format:

1. Fully referenced, critical summaries of 3-4 texts.

2. Critical reflection on the readings.

STYLE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The annotated bibliography must be:

1. Written in a narrative form and not in bullet points.

2. Each reading that you summarise and critique should be headed by the short bibliographic data (author, year). (These headings do not count as part of the 1,500 words).

3. At the end of your annotated bibliography list all of your sources in alphabetical order giving full bibliographic details for each source using the Harvard referencing system.
