            Data Security and Recovery Effective data backup and recovery measures should capture the how and when of making copies of crucial data, backing up the data and restoring it following equipment failure or data loss. My organization has developed comprehensive data backup and recovery strategies that combine offline and online approaches. The organization uses the synthetic full backup method. This method is more effective in comparison to traditional methods such as full backups. The method allows the incremental updating of the changed files and the merging of incremental backups to produce one backup (Coronel & Morris, 2014). During each backup session, the local and repository data are compared and reconciled. Consequently, a final backup, which is similar to the backup created using the full backup method, is attained. The organization can recover data quickly through a single restore, which would be impossible with the standard incremental backup. The system is designed to implement the synthetic backup sessions every six hours.

            The offline backup method uses the storage area network (SAN). The SAN’s storage layer includes several large data capacity hard disks. The system uses RAID technology to streamline the performance of the storage devices. The hard disks are duplicated and some copies stored in a vault. The organization stores other copies in a commercial data storage center. On the other hand, the online storage uses a hybrid cloud. This method allows the organization to tap the benefits of private and public clouds. It gives the organization considerable flexibility in managing the backup and recovery options relating to mobile devices and remote offices (Radvanovsky & Brodsky 2016). The mix of local and offsite backup has strengthened the organization’s data backup and recovery abilities.
