Chapter 5 (attached file) dedicated to the different theories that help us understand messages (arguments, claims, premises, etc). The authors state that there are 3 basic areas the chapter focus on:
1. How messages are structured and delivered
2. What symbols and words messages include
3. How messages are interpreted (page 123)
Prompt:
– Please read Chapter 5 (attached file)
– Your task for this critical reflection is to find a message from either recent advertisement or billboard and provide some analysis of it using one of the theories in Chapter 5. You should draw in the theory and quotes from the reading to show how you utilize it to shape your analysis of the advertisement/billboard message that you pick.
– Include the picture/photograph of the message in the advertisement or billboard.
– This paper should include at least 2 paragraphs of analysis.
