The women played an essential role during the progressive era. They were at the forefront in advocating for what’s right for the farmers. The progressive era was the period that took place in the twentieth century. The initiative was formed to fight commercial and political corruption to come up with solutions for the problems at hand. The people had problems with education, labor, and public health. The right to vote was another progress where the women reformers wanted to make a change. The women wanted their rights to be recognized. Before 1920, the women were not allowed to vote in any way[footnoteRef:1]The women were restricted from choosing the leaders of their choice. Suffrage had taken place on the west side. Many states in the US denied women a right to elect their representatives freely.
