Site Visit

 

This extra credit opportunity is worth 4 points. There are 2 components to this assignment: 1) you must visit an archaeological site and 2) answer 5 questions (see below). It will be due Thursday, Dec. 8 at 5pm.

You can visit any archaeological site. There are four options close to Tempe listed below. You can also consult this document for more site options throughout Arizona: https://www.nps.gov/cagr/planyourvisit/upload/Arizona-Archeological-Sites.pdf

 

Pay close attention to hours of operation! Additionally, some sites charge an admission fee. You can visit Pueblo Grande for free with a culture pass from the ASU library.

• Pueblo Grande

    • There are 10 passes available. 5 at Hayden on the Tempe campus and 5 at the downtown campus.
    • To obtain a Culture Pass, ASU students must bring their SunCard (or other picture identification) to the “Information & Check-Out Desk”.
    • It will give you free admission for 2 people and you can check the pass out for 7 days.

   1. This requires either 1) a photo of you at the site OR 2) a photo or scan of your admission ticket.
   2. Take a selfie or have someone take your photo. The photo of you MUST be by an artifact, a feature, or other archaeological site element. These may include: reconstructions of houses, ball courts, petroglyphs, irrigation canals, etc.

4. List at least 1 artifact or feature that you saw at the site.
   1. Describe the class of artifact or features (house vs. pot) and what it looked like.

   1. Write at least 1 sentence about what you learned or enjoyed about the site.
