Comparison of Leadership and Management: and why leadership is important within project management

This paper will be a Comparison between leadership and management and the importance of leadership in project management.  In regards to the information we will be collecting and how we will be collecting it, for now my dissertation will be based on secondary data only for the past 5 years in relation to the importance of leadership in project management.  However, for the comparison of leadership and management we can use secondary data even if it older than 5 years.

Since we will be collecting secondary data only we need to make sure we provide as much reference as we could and is the most important thing we will aim for.

The structure should be clear.  Can you help the reader to follow your line of thought and use an introduction at the beginning, think through a logical structure.

Dissertation Structure

Please see below the guiding in order to write a good piece of work related to each chapter of the dissertation.

Research Focus and Rationale (What are you doing? Why are you going to do it?)

The introduction of a dissertation starts with one or a few sentence about the broad area of the dissertation. It narrows down the research area to the specific research question(s) or research aims. Think about your main keywords and integrate them in a logical manner. Discuss also the context of your research, either as an example for your research aim or as a particularity to investigate a specific phenomenon.

Literature Review (What have been done?)

This part of the paper should provide background information on relevant research conducted on the topic and/or should identify gaps that the study is going to address. It should identify state-of-the-art research carried out on the topic and the most relevant contributors. The work needs to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the subject domain and the ability to relate this to the research question

Methodology  (How are you going to do it?)

The section specifies the characteristics of the research and outlines the research strategy for data collection and analysis. This is a rather descriptive chapter which reports what you have done and why (application). This chapter differs between qualitative and quantitative research. Both approaches need, however, a completed ethics checklist before the data collection process starts.

Findings and Discussions (What are your results?)

You usually start with a description of the dataset. The dissertation should evidence critical evaluation with appropriate conclusion on the research question(s), drawing together the key points from the whole dissertation. Make sure that you clearly address all your research questions (quants: every hypothesis). Discuss you findings within the findings of your literature review (what others found out). It is not relevant that you find significant results or that your hypotheses are supported. Nonsignificant findings can also be relevant but try to reflect why you have found what you have found.

Conclusions (What have you learnt?)

The conclusions typically start with a brief summary of your main findings. Make sure that you address all research questions asked in the introduction. You then explain and discuss what can be learnt from you research for business and/ or society (these are the recommendations).
