Compare and contrast street criminals and terrorists. Why are these distinctions important to law enforcement officials? Comparing street criminals and terrorists was a challenge. The only logical comparison between the two is that they are both committing crimes. Street criminals has such a broad band of what is considered street criminals that it is best to limited the scope in order to compare them with terrorists. If you look at mafia and gangs as street criminals, you can compare those to terrorists by the fact that they both want to make a point. They both want to make others believe as they do, and be a part of their organization. Street criminals and terrorists also both commit crimes for profit and/or emotion or political gain. In contrast, “Terrorists differ from street criminals. Far from being opportunistic, they plan their actions.
