The economic growth of most countries in the United Arab Emirates has improved tremendously in recent years. This growth has motivated the government of Dubai to try and find a way that they can improve their economy further. Another reason for this imbalance is that most of the female students prefer to take their university education abroad. This is a very worrying trend as a lot of concern has been raised about their performance in the labor market. It is assumed that some female graduate may prefer to dedicate their time in raising families instead of boosting the workforce. To prove this fact, out of the 66.8% of female that attended higher education institutions, only 19% of the national females participated in the workforce.

The article also discusses the supply of graduates into the labor market. Statistics indicate that the number of work permits that have been offered by the Ministry of Labor have gradually increased from the year 2003. Comparison made between the number of students from the universities and the numbers of permits that were offered between the years 2003 to 2005 showed a declining trend.  This was an indicator that there was strong growth of the economy, and it required a huge number of workers that was far in excess of the supply that the universities supplied. To deal with this negative impact, the authors advocated that the United Arab Emirates government should set strategies required to improve some of the key sector of the economy. The only way to achieve those strategies is to ensure that the quality of education is high and to improve competitiveness in the labor market. Therefore, it would be better for the government to ensure that the quality and quantity of education is improved so that they attain the goal of making the economy of the country much better.

Another relevant aspect of work that is discussed in the article is the relevance of specialization of graduates in the labor market.  Study indicates that most students in the field of social science, education and law double the number of technician and specialists who are employed in other various fields. This high number has affected the share of those who are in the other fields. This revelation indicates that so many graduates have the desire to work in government institutions and not in the labor market. The low number of engineers, marketers and business men and economist has affected the operation and growth of the labor market.  Similarly, research conducted on the quality of graduates indicated that those who were fresh from universities had low skills.
