Kouzes and Posner (2012) propose a model for the development of leadership ability. This includes five (5) practices of exemplary leadership (modelling the way, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, challenging the process and encouraging the heart).

1. Briefly describe an example of leadership from your own experience. Relate each of the five (5) exemplary leadership practices and ten (10) commitments to your example and use Kouzes and Posner (2012) and other literature to support your discussion.

Marking criteria (total 100 marks)

Presents a brief account of the example from practice and analyses exemplary leadership practices in relation to this example.

Communicates clearly and uses appropriate academic language (10 marks).

Content is communicated clearly and concisely in a professional academic way.  Colloquialisms and non-academic terminology are used only in the context of citing others.

Appropriately uses supporting literature and research(10 marks).

Provides evidence of reviewing relevant research and literature. References used are relevant, current, and from appropriate literature sources.

Clearly describes content information (20 marks).

Provides a clear and comprehensive overview of 5 exemplary leadership practices

Appropriately analyses content information (20 marks).

Provides evidence of reviewing relevant practice issues drawing on own experiences to illustrate the significance and relevance of these issues for understanding effective leadership in health.

Synthesizes content clearly and logically. (10 marks)

There is evidence of critical thinking and synthesis of ideas in planning leadership development Provides support and consolidation for the ideas presented in the visual representation

Engaging presentation (10 marks).

There is evidence of ability to use creativity to demonstrate a synthesis of ideas, content is imaginatively presented and visually pleasing.

Adheres to school requirements with regard to presentation, referencing and word limit (10 marks).

Organises assignment logically and coherently, presentation style is in accordance with guidelines. References cited accurately in text and reference list
