Part Three: Writer’s Statement Memo – Write this to your instructor

 

Please draft a memo to me that functions as a writer’s statement (350-400 words) explaining your Project One submissions.

• Rhetorical considerations: Discuss this assignment in the context of the rhetorical triangle. How did message, audience, and author considerations influence your writing?
• Organizational Structure: Why did you organize the correspondence the way you did? What strategies did you employ in writing each letter? (Refer to the textbook in this discussion.)
• What did you learn about professional writing from this exercise? What principles did these exercises emphasize?
• Reflect upon your writing experience. What part of this exercise was most challenging? What was most interesting? What strengths did you draw upon to complete this assignment? In what areas do you feel that you need to improve?

 

Overview: Please submit the following four documents in a two pocket folder (on the date indicated in the class schedule):

• Your email to the class that summarizes a type of business correspondence (written collaboratively)

• Two letters (one direct and one indirect) (written individually)
• Your Writer’s Statement Memo (written individually)

 

Please submit the above in the right hand pocket. In the left, please include original drafts and peer reviews of your Project One documents. Please label your folder with your name and section number.
