Reparations for Native Americans

The reparations for the Native Americans have been going on for many years. It is meant to compensate the natives for they went through throughout the history (Brophy 40).  Some of the sufferings include slavery, discrimination and also grabbing of their land. The events led to a weak relationship between the administration and the Native Americans. It also led to a poor relationship between the American citizens. The compensations will, therefore, help in amending the link between the government and the Native Americans. It will also assist the Native American to have a sense of belonging as they will be given their lands back. They also have a right to ask for compensation for the sufferings that they went through in the country. Therefore, the compensation for the Native Americans is  a patriotic thing, and the government should play their part by ensuring that it is fulfilled.

The reparations for the Native Americans will help in amending the relationship between them and the government. Some of the Native Americans went through suffering through the hands of the American government that created a boundary between the two (Brophy 55). For instance, the Indian-Americans went through discrimination and also slavery and this created a barrier between them and the other citizens. Therefore, by giving them tribal recognition, it will help them identify with other citizens. Currently, racism is still going on and therefore, reparations will be a good way of ending racism and creating a strong link between the communities. 

The reparations for the Native Americans will also help them have a sense of belonging. One type of compensations that the Natives will receive includes land. In this case, the government is planning to give the natives their lands back. Therefore, this will allow the natives move back to their ancestral land, and this will allow them have a sense of belonging. Some of the natives that are going to receive their lands include the Indians (Lenzerini 30). The American government grabbed the Indians land and forced them to relocate, some were even enslaved in their land, and therefore, the U.S will perform a good deed by giving them back their properties.

The Native Americans also have a right to ask for compensations due to the suffering they went through in the hands of the State. Some of the Natives were tortured which is against the stipulations of the human rights. Some of them were driven from their ancestral land and hence, they have a right to ask back for it (Tsosie 45). The lands were illegally taken from them; therefore, it shows that it still belongs to them legally. It is also unconstitutional for a person to grab land and hence, the owner has the right to claim back its ownership.  

Conclusion

The compensations for the Natives will help in creating a link that was destroyed by the atrocities done to some of the Natives. The atrocities created a boundary between the people of America; therefore, by giving them tribal recognition, the state will help in amending the link. The compensations will also help the Natives to have a sense of belonging. For instance, one way that the state will compensate them is through giving their lands back. The Native Americans also have a right to ask for compensation for the atrocities that were done to them by the state.
