Globalization and Education research paper

Globalization and Education

Globalization and Education.  This paper proposal must include the following components:
a) An introduction to a relevant issue related to course topics and materials. You can use course topics as the starting point from which you can explore larger discussions about the culture,
globalization and civil society. Whatever topic you choose, you must justify it (offer reasons) for writing about it. Since you can’t just imagine these reasons on your own, you must rely on existing sources to help you do it.
b) Follow your introduction with a discussion of your sources. This will be the tentative argument of your paper. In the body of your paper you will effectively argue a scholar’s argument and, as such, this argument must be based on what your selected authors are arguing, they concepts they use and the theory in which arguments and concepts make sense. Developing an argument is thus not simply a matter of conjuring up an opinion or a “thesis statement” that you can pull out of thin air. The argument of your paper must be drawn from the literature or that you formulate by taking elements from various arguments but on a coherent and thoughtful way. You should use at least ten relevant scholarly sources (preferably books, but you may include one or two scholarly articles and one or two online
sources) dedicated to exploring your chosen topic and it is from these sources that you will draw or propose the tentative argument of your paper. Make sure these sources are NOT
included as required or recommended course readings as you need to find your own. An analysis of argument is not the same as a simple summary of your sources in your own words, factually and without any specific references to them. As you advance your discussion of your sources remember that each key point or idea must be properly referenced with page numbers.
c) Expand the discussion above with a selection of the most relevant, important or key concepts central to the overall argument/analysis that you’re proposing to develop in your final paper. Remember, you’re not here developing your own argument but in fact arguing a scholar’s argument. Here you take apart the scholar’s argument and discuss its key concepts. In doing this you need to demonstrate that you can understand key concepts adequately, that you can contextualize those concepts in theory rather than discuss them in isolation or abstraction,
and that you can discuss concepts with reference to supplemental sources to ground your own interpretations and to offer more context.
d) End your proposal with a basic outline (based on your mind map) of the way in which you intend to develop the argument and divide your final research paper. You can present this
section in point form.
